The Tulip Tree

Oh man so. I found this all inked up in an old sketchbook and had completely forgotten about it. I had meant to do three, dryads of my favorite trees (the others being ginko and bald cypress). But this was really the only good one, so I scanned it up and colored it in photoshop. I love tulip trees, they're so pretty. I have only seen them growing in the south.

Tulip trees are generally known as Yellow Poplars, but are related to neither tulips or poplars. They are in the Magnolia family, a group of relatively primitive angiosperms (flowering plants). Yeah I am done being a nerd.
